Hi
Today is the birthday of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. She has been singing songs for Hindi films for almost seven decades. There is a certain devotion to her singing which takes the song to a different level. Even at this age, she can move you with her song. Her last song Lukka Chuppi ( Rang De Basanti ) brought tears to many eyes. Hats off to you madam .........
I was reading an article about Swami Vivekananda and stumbled upon a fact that the worlds parliament of religions conference happened on the 11th of September 1893 in Chicago. This was a platform for a wandering monk to become a world renowned personality. His opening statement " Sisters and brothers of America " throws light on his personality.

Once Ravindranath Tagore said that " If you want to know about India, you need to read Vivekananda ".
He died at 39.All his accomplishments were done in 9 years. I wonder what he would have done if he had live for 100 years. Well, on a lighter note I am going to Chicago to meet few friends. I will try to visit the hall where the conference happened 116 years ago.
Signing off
Krishna

Hi,
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Swami Vivekananda said that the future will see hundreds of Vivekanandas... and I think it is happening right now in the form of energetic inspired service-minded youth. He also said that in 200-300 years India will not only regain her former glory, but exceed that much more... I am sure that is already beginning to happen right in front of our eyes. The golden age is now!
BTW, did you get to see the hall where he spoke?
Hari,
ReplyDeleteI did not have time to go. may be some other time.
